Did you buy a beautiful ceiling lamp? Not everyone is a born lamp fitter. But with our instruction, step-by-step will explain how to hang a ceiling lamp. This way everyone can fix a ceiling lamp!
Supplies
To hang your new ceiling light, it's handy to have some tools on hand. In many cases, just a screwdriver will get you far. We recommend reading through the entire instructions and seeing what tools you need for your situation. What you need:
- A voltage detector
- A stripper
- A screwdriver
- Screws and plugs
- Possibly a impact drill
- A screwdriver
- A pencil
Roadmap
- Turn off the power and read the packaging carefully
Before you begin attaching your ceiling light, it is important to turn off the power. The electrical group you will be working with is sufficient. Use a voltage detector to check that there is no current left on the wires. If the voltage detector light stays off, it means there is no more current on the wires. - Attach the mounting bracket
Unscrew the mounting bracket from the fixture and screw it to the ceiling in conjunction with the screw plugs. Depending on the electrical connection in your home, you should either secure the bracket to the center box or attach it directly to the ceiling. In older homes, it is often necessary to attach the bracket to the ceiling. In that case, you should first drill holes in the ceiling to securely fasten the bracket. - Attach the electrical wires to the terminal block
Now we are going to attach the electrical wires. You start by stripping the electrical wires. This means removing the plastic around the wire. Using the stripper, strip 0.5 cm of the brown and blue wire bare. The terminal block has two or three openings. Two of them are for the brown and blue wire. It does not matter which wire is connected where. In the middle is often another opening for the ground wire (the yellow-green wire). If your pendant lamp is grounded, attach this wire to the terminal block as well. Insert the wires into the openings and screw them on with a screwdriver. - Attach with fixture
After you secure the mounting bracket, place the fixture over the bracket and screw it in place. This is usually done with two screws on the side of the mounting bracket. If you have a ceiling fixture, slide it into place and lock it in place according to the instructions. Make sure the ceiling light is securely attached to the ceiling. Check that all the mounting points are tightened securely. - Screw on the lamp
Screw the light source into the ceiling lamp socket. Often a light source is not included with the ceiling lamp. The packaging of the lamp tells you what kind of light source you need. On our website you can find and purchase the right light source. If a shade comes with the lamp, place it over the bulb. Then turn the power back on to the group and check that the lamp works. And voilà, you have hung and connected your ceiling lamp yourself!
Ceiling Light vs Ceiling Lamp
The main differences between hanging a regular ceiling light and a ceiling light fixture usually lie in the design of the fixture itself. A ceiling light often has a flat design that mounts directly to the ceiling, while a regular ceiling light usually has a more protruding design that is open at the bottom to the light source.
It is important to follow the installation instructions of the specific ceiling light you purchased, as there may be differences in mounting and wiring methods depending on the brand and model.
