What is the ideal size of a chandelier?

What is the ideal size of a chandelier?

There is no ideal size of a chandelier, but there is a different effect created between small and large chandeliers. The size of your ideal chandelier depends on the size of the room where you want to hang it. The diameter of a modern chandelier normally ranges from about 38 cm to 70 cm. If you choose to hang a chandelier above the dining table, take the size of your table into account: the diameter of the chandelier does not have to be larger than the size of your table.

How high should you hang a chandelier?

There is one important thing to remember for hanging chandeliers and that is that high ceilings are required to hang them beautifully. The ideal height you want to hang it depends on exactly where you want it. If you want to mount it above the dining table, the same advice applies as for pendant lights: keep a clearance of 60 cm to 70 cm between the fixture and the table surface.

If you choose to hang it in a clear space (e.g. the hall), make sure you can comfortably walk underneath it without having to crouch down. As a passage height, we recommend at least 230 cm between the bottom of the chandelier and the ground.
